The Ardmore Animal Hospital is able to call in specialists in both Cardiology and Internal Medicine when needed. Our specialists are able to perform ultrasonic examinations and many other procedures requiring special skills and equipment.
James Bianco, VMD: Dr. James Bianco has owned and operated The Ardmore Animal Hospital since 1989. He is a 1987 graduate of The University of Pennsylvania's School of Veterinary Medicine. Before attending veterinary school, he earned a Master's degree from Villanova University and also taught high school biology and advanced placement science courses for 7 years. His interests in medicine include soft tissue surgery, internal medicine and alternative modalities such as vitamin therapy, nutritional healing and herbal medicine. Dr. Bianco enjoys speaking on related topics especially to schools and associations. He has done several "spots" for local TV networks. His goal has always been to assemble the most qualified staff and practice the highest quality medicine for animals. The tremendous growth of The Ardmore Animal Hospital has resulted in this facility being able to afford our patients the best care.
James Peters, VMD: Dr. James Peters received his B.A. from The University of Pennsylvania and is a 1983 graduate of the University's School of Veterinary Medicine. He has practiced on the Main Line since 1983. He also served in the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia, teaching classes and providing veterinary care for their non-domestic animal collection. His interests are internal medicine, surgery and oncology. He joined the staff of The Ardmore Animal Hospital in 1997 where his knowledge has been a great asset to the treatment of our patients.
Jennifer Granite, VMD: Dr. Jennifer Granite is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Grante is USDA accredited in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This allow her to examine animals for international travel and for accredited health certificates. Since Dr. Granite has been at Ardmore, she has had a special interest in laser surgeries, as well as, critical care patients. Her favorite breed, but certainly not limited to, is the fuzzy and adorable poodle.
Katherine Trow, VMD: Dr. Kathy Trow is a 1994 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to joining the staff at The Ardmore Animal Hospital, she worked for six years as a feline practioner at the Cat Hospital of Philadelphia. Her special interests include internal medicine, geriatric care and surgery. Dr. Trow also enjoys regularly speaking at local preschools, elementary schools, and children's programs about pet care and the veterinary profession.
Tamara Nolan Mengine, DVM: Dr. Tamara Nolan Mengine graduated summa cum laude from the North Carolina College of Veterinary Medicine, and then completed a 1-year internship in Small Animal Medicine & Surgery at the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine. After her internship, she spent a year practicing emergency and critical care medicine at the Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center, before embarking on a career in small animal general practice. Dr. Mengine's interests include exotic species medicine, ultrasound, cardiology and emergency/critical care. In her free time Dr. Mengine does pet therapy work in local hospitals and libraries, with her Siberian Husky rescue, Oz.
Gia Anita Croce, VMD: Dr. Croce has attended the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary School and received her veterinary medical doctor degree in 1992. She was selected to pursue post-doctorate training at Cornell University Veterinary Teaching Hospital as a small animal intern, helping to educate other students in medical and surgical principles. After completion of the small animal internship program, Dr. Croce worked for several years in a progressive 8 doctor small animal practice in New Jersey. Dr. Croce has been active in community service, receiving a recognition award from the Board of Health of Lower Merion Township for devoting time to rabies prevention and speaking for career day presentations to neighboring institutions. She was also recognized by Philadelphia Magazine as one of the Delaware Valley's top vets.
OUR SPECIALISTS
Cecelia Helenski, MS, DVM: Dr. Cecelia Helenski received her B.S. degree from the University of Rhode Island and her MS degree from the University of Tennessee. She then attended Tufts University where she received her DVM. She interned at Oklahoma State University and did her residency at the Universities of Florida and Pennsylvania. Her practice is limited to Cardiology.
Geraldine McCall Kaufman, DVM, Dipl, ACVIM: Dr. Kaufman is a 1975 graduate of Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine. After several years in small animal practice, she returned to Purdue for a residency in small animal medicine and was admitted to the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 1981. She remained at Purdue to finish a Master's Degree and pursue a fellowship in comparative nephrology with the School of Interdisiplinary Engineering. In 1983 she joined the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine as Assistant Professor in Veterinary Medicine and was the director of VHUP's ICU. Dr. Kaufman began a private consulting practice in 1988.
Dr. Kaufman has been a valuable member of the Ardmore Animal Hospital's staff since 1994. She has consulted on many difficult medicine cases at the practice. In addition she performs specialized diagnostic procedures, including abdominal ultrasound, endoscopy, and bronchoscopy.
