Dr. Tamara Mengine has been a member of the veterinary medical team at Ardmore Animal Hospital since 2007. A native of Pennsylvania, Dr. Mengine attended Virginia Tech, where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Biology in 1994. She went on to attend the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine and was awarded her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. Following veterinary school, she completed a one-year rotating internship in animal medicine and surgery at Texas A&M University.  She counts internal medicine, cardiology, emergency and critical care and small mammal/exotic pet care among her professional interests.  Recently, Dr. Mengine has been working hard to advance the emerging field of veterinary hospice care.  In 2010 she became a founding member of the International Association of Animal Hospice and Palliative Care, and has developed a Companion Animal Quality of Life Scale, to help pet owners better assess their pets' day to day needs at the end of life.

A member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society, Dr. Mengine is active in Pals for Life, a local pet therapy organization, where she serves as a volunteer and board member. Her past-times and hobbies include gardening, biking, running, swimming and spending time with her family. Dr. Mengine is often seen with her two canine companions, Siberian Husky Oz, and retired racing greyhound Belle.
